Eating healthy is the first step in making sure that you are living a healthy lifestyle. Our bodies work so hard to keep us living day to day. By eating healthy, we are providing our body with the nutrients to keep running and live longer.


Pinterest is our go-to for everything Health & Wellness. As a teenager, your body is going through many physical changes – changes that need to be supported by a healthy, balanced diet.  


By eating a varied and balanced diet you should be able to get all the energy and nutrients you need from the food and drink you consume, allowing your body to grow and develop properly.


Some important nutrients to be aware of are iron, vitamin D and calcium.


Eating healthily doesn't have to mean giving up your favorite foods. It simply means eating a variety of foods and cutting down on food and drinks high in fat and sugar, such as sugary fizzy drinks, crisps, cakes and chocolate. These foods should be eaten less often and in smaller amounts.


A great way for teens to begin making better healthy eating choices is to start by making their own school lunch or after school snack. 

Fun Recipe

Doritos Taco Salad

1 pound lean ground beef
1 packet (1.25 oz) taco seasoning
2 Romaine lettuce hearts, rinsed then chopped
1 cup black beans, rinsed
1 large tomato, seeded then chopped
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup nacho cheese Doritos, broke into bite size pieces
1 cup Catalina dressing

1. Brown and crumble ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain grease. Add taco seasoning and water called for on packet. Stir until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let meat cool slightly.
2. In a large salad bowl add chopped lettuce, black beans, tomato and cheese. Add slightly cooled ground beef and gently toss to combine everything. Serve now, or chill in refrigerator until ready to eat.
3. When ready to serve, add Doritos chips and dressing to salad. Toss to coat. Serve.
